ID CARD OFFICE

In July, 2024, the SIU Identification Office will begin to issue a new ID card to all new students, faculty and staff.  The new ID card will provide enhanced security features along with a new look.

The current SIU ID card for faculty, staff and students will continue to be valid and supported.  After July 1, 2024, individuals may upgrade to the new ID for $15.00, but it is not required.  Replacement ID cards for lost, stolen or damaged cards are $30.00.  Any cost associated with upgrading to the new ID card will be the responsibility of the student, faculty or staff member. Departments are not responsible for any charges associated with current faculty or staff who decide to upgrade to the new ID card from the current ID card.

Important Dates:

Beginning June 15, 2024, the ID card office will suspend production of the current ID as we transition to the new card system.   Production of the new card will begin in early July.  No ID cards will be issued to anyone on campus during this time.

The functionality of Debit Dawg and Copy Cards could be affected from June 15, 2024 until July 1, 2024.

New Staff and Campus Departments:

Beginning July 1, 2024, campus departments will be responsible for the cost associated with any new employee ID card.  Departments should complete this form which will accompany the new employee when they visit the ID office to obtain their first ID card.  New employees should bring a copy of their employment contract to obtain the ID card along with a legal form of ID which includes a passport, driver’s license, military or state ID.  Any replacement lost or stolen ID cost will be the responsibility of the employee.

New Students:

New students starting the Fall 2024 semester will receive information by email on how to upload their picture once the new ID card system is in place.  This information will be sent to the student’s SIU email address.

New students living in SIU Housing for Fall 2024 will receive their new ID when they arrive at their residence hall during move-in.  Information on how to obtain the ID will be provided by email.  New students living off-campus will obtain their new ID by visiting the ID Office after July 1, 2024.

When obtaining an SIU ID Card, individuals must provide a legal form of identification which includes a passport, driver’s license, military or state ID.  No other forms of identification are accepted.  New employees must also provide their employment contract from Human Resources.
