Located in the heart of campus, we welcome student organizations, university departments, and community groups alike. Whether you need a ballroom, meeting room, or outdoor venue, we've got options—and a team ready to help.
Ready to reserve space in the Student Center?
We’ve tried to make it easy to reserve one of our great spaces! If you have any questions, please connect with Student Center Event Services.
Step 1: Review Space Options
Before you request space, take a look at the EMS online calendar along with the room rates/capacities.
Not all events/meetings are listed, but it's a great starting point to see what rooms are available.

Step 2: Request the Space
Online Requests
For the quickest response, consider requesting space online!
RSOs & University Departments
For small events or re-occurring meetings, EMS online scheduling is the best scheduling option. Online scheduling of space must occur more than two (2) business days before the desired meeting or event date.

**Major event space can't be scheduled via EMS online scheduling. Major event space includes Ballrooms, Auditorium, Renaissance Room, International Lounge, and Old Main Room/Lounge.
** Confirmation of scheduled space is not immediate. It can take up to three (3) business days to process the request.Once processed, an Event Coordinator will send a confirmation or connect with you to discuss event details.
Off-Campus Organizations, University Departments, Major Event Space, or RSOs
For larger events, events in major event spaces, or for anyone not sure where to start, complete the form below. It can take up to three - five (3-5) business days to process the request. Once processed, an Event Coordinator will connect with you to discuss event details.

Step 3: Await Approval
Reservations are made on a first-come, first-served basis.
For simple, routine events/meetings, average approval time is typically three (3) business days. For larger, more complex events, it can take up to three-five (3-5) business days to process a request.
A request does not guarantee a confirmation. Please do not start advertising your meeting/event until you have received a confirmed reservation from the Event Services office.
Step 4: Confirmation
Hooray! You have received approval for your event or meeting in the Student Center.
It’s important to review all guidelines that pertain to your event. It’s the customer’s responsibility to ensure deadlines are met and policies are followed.

Major Events
A Registered Student Organization's (RSO) Certified Officer or on-campus advisor may request event space (major, annual, or special) up to one year in advance. Space may only be booked pending availability. Student Center Event Services encourages RSOs to book event space for large events early in order to secure a preferred date.
Free Forum Space
Individuals, organizations, and groups of persons seeking to engage in free expression may do so within the designated public forum areas.
Dance/Performance RSOs
Dance Studio
Lower level Grinnell Hall - minimual fee for organizations outside of Housing. To make a reservation, email tsb32@siu.edu.
Dance Space Options
- Wood floors
- Approx. 10-15 SIU students
- Reserve at least 1 week in advance via EMS online or by completing downloadable form located on the Student Recreation Center's Facility Reservations page.
