Monday - February 4

International Parade of Flags

The poignant International Parade of Flags kicks off the international festival celebration at 10:00 a.m. Carrying flags representing their Nation, students, faculty and staff will walk together from Woody Hall across campus to the Student Center. It’s a colorful and impressive assemblage and some participants also wear their native attire.

International Festival Proclamation & University Welcome

The official proclamation and university welcome ceremony follows the parade in the Student Center’s International Lounge at 10:30. SIU Interim Chancellor John Dunn and Carbondale Mayor Mike Henry will be in attendance to officially “open” the festival.


Wednesday - February 6

International Food Fair

2019 Food Fair Menu

One of the most popular events at the annual festival, the International Food Fair, will be held in the Student Center Ballrooms at 11 a.m. It’s a unique opportunity to sample a wide variety of cuisine from all over the world as students from nations far and wide prepare and serve popular foods from their countries. Tickets are just $1 each and items will range from 1-6 tickets. Some booths even offer full meal options.

Tickets will be on sale from January 30 - February 5 at the Business Office window on the second floor of the Student Center from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The International Student Council will also sell tickets at the escalators near the north entrance of the Student Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 4-5. tickets will also be available the day of the event, starting at 11 a.m.


Friday - February 8

Cultural Show

SIU students will celebrate their diverse backgrounds with performances of music, dance, drama and more at the popular annual Cultural Show. The event begins at 7 p.m. in the Student Center Ballrooms. The show is free and open to the public.
